Diana Ruiz, Ph.D 2020

I received my B.S. in Biological Sciences with a focus in Ecological Theory and Practice from Mills College. I supplemented my classroom education with broad field training through domestic and foreign conservation action organizations abroad including: National Park Service, Andean Bear Foundation (Ecuador), Fundecoipa (Ecuador), Environment and Rural Development Foundation (Cameroon), and CetaMada (Madagascar). I am involved with local land preservation as Vice President of the Board of Directors for Audubon Canyon Ranch.

My research centered on seabird conservation planning. I applied a custom designed meta-population viability analysis to all currently threatened seabird species. This demographic approach to high risk species can answer questions of prioritization, threat impact, and identify effective management plans. I am eager to employ rigorous population modeling to guide decision making in conservation science.

I am currently the Director of Native Land Conservancy in Massachusetts
